At 7:00 pm on this 7th of February, a gentleman, apparently feeling himself a victim of harassment walked into a Kirkwood city council meeting, pulled out a gun, and opened fire. Reports are still comming in as I am writing this, but it appears that at least two police officers are deceased and several members of the city council are deceased as well and others are seriously wounded. A statment read by the public affairs officer of the Kirkwood police department indicates at least 5 people are deceased, with the mayor possibly dead. The gunman was subsequently killed by police officers who subsequently arrived at the scene. The gunman started his spree by killing a police Sergent in a parked vehicle in the parking lot and then entered City Hall and killed a police officer in the council chambers before opening fire upon the assembled council members.
